Papa John's, the fourth-largest pizza restaurant franchise in the United States, has its original headquarters situated in Jefferson, Kentucky. The establishment of the first Papa John's restaurant occurred in 1984 by 'Papa' John Schnatter. To fund this venture, he sold his Camaro Z28 and started operating the business from a local tavern. As the restaurant gained popularity, it found a new location. In 1993, Papa John's transitioned into a publicly traded company and expanded to over 1,500 stores across the United States. Besides their renowned pizzas, customers flock to enjoy menu favorites like chicken wings, garlic sauce, and desserts. Presently, Papa John's boasts more than 5,199 franchises worldwide, with locations scattered throughout Latin America, Europe, and Asia. John Schnatter stepped down as CEO of the Papa John's franchise in 2017. Today, their headquarters span between Louisville, Kentucky and the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan areas. Notably, last year, Papa John's achieved total revenues surpassing $2.1 billion and continues to employ around 15,000 individuals.
