In 1965, Pete's Super Submarines was established by Fred Deluca and Peter Buck in Bridgeport, Connecticut. However, in 1968, the founders decided to rebrand the sandwich shop as "Subway" to focus more on their sandwich business. As the demand for their "build-your-own-sandwich" concept grew, Subway started offering franchise opportunities. During the 1970s, the number of Subway franchise locations continued to increase. This trend can be attributed to Subway gaining popularity as a quick-service alternative to traditional burgers. While Subway's primary offering is submarine sandwiches, they also provide salads, cookies, beverages, and other side dishes. Emphasizing its commitment to using fresh ingredients, Subway has adopted the slogan "Eat Fresh." Notably, all Subway locations bake their bread in-store for a truly fresh experience. Today, Subway boasts an impressive network of 41,600 nationwide locations, ensuring that anyone looking for a meal can easily find a Subway nearby.
