The Children's Place is a specialty retailer that specializes in selling clothing and accessories for children. It was established in 1969 with only a few stores and became a part of the Federated Department Stores chain in 1981. In 1988, Joseph Sitt and a group of investors acquired the chain when the parent company sold off some of its brands. The Children's Place experienced growth in profits by partnering with Disney and operating the Disney Store. Profits increased by over 15% due to the success of the High School Musical franchise. The chain later sold those stores back to Disney to focus on its in-house brand. Currently, there are over 1,000 stores located in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, with most of them being in enclosed malls but some also standalone stores. The Children's Place categorizes its merchandise into different sections, including Baby Girls and Boys for children up to 12 months or seven pounds, Toddler Girls and Boys for kids wearing 12 months to 5T
